News Release: Oakville Public Library approves employee vaccination policy

OAKVILLE, ON – On September 23, 2021, Oakville Public Library (OPL)’s Board approved a COVID-19 vaccination policy and procedure for all OPL employees

The OPL COVID-19 Vaccination Policy specifies that all library staff are required to be fully vaccinated, with limited exception by November 10, 2021.

Throughout the pandemic, OPL’s highest priority has been to ensure the safety of staff and the Oakville’s community members who rely on library services. OPL continues to follow all public health and safety protocols.

As an employer, OPL has an obligation under Ontario law to take all necessary precautions to protect its workers. The policy aligns with Halton’s Medical Officer of Health direction for local employers with 100 or more workers onsite to establish a COVID-19 workplace vaccination policy to protect workers and the public from COVID-19. OPL will comply with its obligation under the Ontario Human Rights Code and privacy legislation.

For visitors to OPL branches, OPL will not require proof of COVID-19 vaccination, with the exception of room rental bookings. More details can be found here.
